.. front to back ..

These are my new favorite earrings. My lovely mama got them for me in Vietnam the last time she was there traveling and having the time of her life with my dad. They were handmade by a shop girl my mom loved for two reasons: her skilled craftsmanship and her resemblance to me!

What's special about them is that the longer strand is actually connected to the butterfly back of the earring, so that it lays behind the ear, while the shorter piece lays in front of the ear lobe. Simple construction but makes all the difference in the look and feel of the earring.

I plan on making several pieces using the same construction and will post pictures of my progress. This is the closest I'll get to the real thing, since I don't think I'll have a chance to go to Vietnam until late next year.

P.S. | This little wooden man has some serious wrist bling. I'm glad he's got something going for him.
